Budapest to Bamako 2010
In January, two stunning beauty queens embarked on the 2010 Budapest-Bamako car rally.
The Project:
The community of Kourmikouru is located in Eastern Mali between Douentza and the legendary town of Timbuktu. Kourmikorou became a village two years ago when a Norwegian aid organization dug a well for the nomads who had been living in the area. Members of the Fulani tribe settled around the new well and began building permanent homes. Even though there are about 200 school aged children the village has no school and the illiteracy rate is 95%.

The Goal:
Miss World Hungary 2009 and Miss Universe Hungary 2009 need your help to build the school!

Orsolya Serdült - Miss World Hungary 2009
Zsuzsa Budai - Miss Universe Hungary 2009
The Rally:
The Budapest to Bamako is now the world’s largest trans-Saharan rally, currently in its 5th year, it’s also a charity event in which teams take gifts and supplies to poor communities in West Africa. The 2010 rally runs from 16 January for 17 days from Budapest, Hungary through Austria, Italy, France, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania to Bamako, the capital of Mali.
More info on the rally can be found at www.budapestbamako.org

The Mission:
The Miss Hungary Touareg Rally team and The Norwegian Bamako Team have joined forces to build a school in a remote Malian village. Miss World Hungary 2009 and Miss Universe Hungary 2009 need help to raise US$10,000 to buy solar energy panels, furniture, a photocopier and a computer for the new school. Since the town has no electricity the solar energy panels are vital to running the school. To learn more and help, please see box on the right.
